Crispy Indian Prawns | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

We have made these Indian style crispy prawns using medium sized prawns, but you can try them out with jumbo prawns too.



20-25 medium prawns, shelled and deveined with tails intact
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Salt to taste
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
2 teaspoons red chilli powder
½ cup yogurt
1 egg
2-3 tablespoons gram flour
Oil for deep-frying
½ cup dried breadcrumbs
Chaat masala for sprinkling


1. Take prawns in a bowl. Add lemon juice, salt, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, chilli powder and yogurt in a bowl and mix well.
2. Break egg in a bowl and beat well. Add ½ to the prawn mixture and mix. Add gram flour and mix well.
3. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
4. Spread breadcrumbs on a plate and coat each marinated prawn with it.
5. Deep-fry prepared prawns in hot oil till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
6. Sprinkle some chaat masala on top and serve hot.
