How to open HP 15 ab277cl Laptop Case / Upgrade Memory / Clone & install SSD Solid State Drive

How to open up the laptop case of an HP Pavilion computer Model # 15-ab277cl / HP part number N5R56UA. Also shows how to upgrade this computer from 12GB to 16GB as well as how to clone, your original Hard Drive (HDD) to a Solid State Drive (SSD) and then remove the hard drive from the original laptop and upgrade it to the SSD that you just copied your HDD to. The process of initializing the new SSD is NOT covered in this video so I suggest that you call your SSD manufacturers support line to see if and how you will need to initialize your new drive either before or during watching this video. This is a Windows 10 laptop in the video and Windows 10 made it hard to find easy to use, FREE, cloning software as Windows 10 (as I type this) incompatible with most of them.

This video also (specifically) showed how to clone from a source drive to a target drive when the target drive is smaller than the source drive. This is a bit of a challenge but (by using the free cloning software that I used) ended up being easy.

To upgrade this specific laptop, I used Crucial Brand Memory part Number CT7301010 (FYI YOU MUST USE MEMORY DESIGNED FOR YOUR SPECIFIC COMPUTER (/ model number (memory is NOT a generic part) you can find details about the exact memory I used and order it here...

I used cloning cables from a kit I ordered a few years back from Apricorn. That being said, the software portion of that kit did not work on this specific computer because of Windows 10 (I think) so (upon Apricorn's tech support's suggestion) I used the software (Todo Backup Free) listed below instead and it was a "piece of cake".
Apricorn Cloning cables and kits can be found here...

The Cloning Software that I used is called Todo Backup Free from EaseUS. They offer a free version and it is located here...

If you want to turn the bay where your stock optical drive currently sits into a hew home for a second HDD then go to ebay and search for "2nd Hard Drive HDD SSD Caddy Adapter for HP Pavilion 15-n206nr Replace UJ8DB DVD" I used the item I found with that search and have had no problems. Also... you can then easily convert your (now removed) stock optical drive into an external USB optical drive (just find an external case on ebay).

IMPORTANT- Please know that I am strictly a computer fixing AMATEUR! As such, this video is ONLY for entertainment purposes. In other words... Random Notes about this project:
I think this computer is also called the HP "Star Wars Special Edition" (but I am not absolutely sure about this).
