How to Clean an Oven by Home Repair Tutor

This video will show you how to clean an oven.

Remove grease from the surface, clean the door window, get your burner tops back to looking good, etc.

Hey there, I'm Jeff with Home Repair Tutor and there's no doubt that we all need a little help getting our oven looking clean again.

This may sound a little simple but always follow the cleaning directions in your oven's owner's manual.

What if you can't find the manual?

Well, you're kinda up the creek. Just kidding, haha.

My first tip is to use a baking soda and water mixture that has the consistency of Elmer's glue. Allow this mixture to sit on your oven's greasy surface for 15 minutes then wipe it off with a soft sponge.

Always test any cleaning solution though to make sure it's compatible with your oven surface.

Now here's the deal, the baking soda and water mixture didn't work to remove grease on on my oven's window. But you can use Dawn dishwashing liquid and it's totally AWESOME.

Allow the Dawn to sit on the window for 15 minutes then use a razor to remove grease residue. Yes, it's scary to use a razor but that's what my owner's manual called for and it worked. Hold the razor at a 45 degree angle and you'll be amazed at how well it works.

Should you use the self-clean button if you have one.

If you've got a vent or window in your kitchen and aren't afraid then go ahead and self-clean.

I've got some great tips for how to prep for the self-cleaning process and what to do for cleaning the stove top, burners, racks, and more.
