Baldor 353T Estate Pipe Restoration Series How To Clean Tobacco Pipe Buffing Stem Part 5

I use a Baldor Dental Lathe 353T to do the buffing work on these pipes. To start buffing the stems, I use a tripoli compound and that takes away the remaining oxidation and polishes the stems quite nicely.

Cleaning estate pipes has become a new hobby of mine. Peterson, Savinelli, Comoy's, Kriswill, Sasieni, Brigham, Stanwell, and Bennington pipes have all become new additions to my collection. There are some great deals out there on older estate pipes that need some love and tlc. I bought these 13 tobacco pipes for less than $60. The buffing machine was $50, buffing wheels, tripoli and rouge compounds about $50. I also purchased a $20 reamer. All in all, I spent $180 to do this restoration and they all came out beautifully. Please enjoy the series, and follow me for more future restorations!
