Do you get enough protein in your diet? Most people don’t and they don’t even know it. Some people who train or work out usually take a protein powder to supplement, but it can sometimes be processed and doesn’t always taste very good. So today, I’m going to be making a natural protein shake that tastes delicious, keeps you full, and will give you that extra boost of protein to help you go about your day at full strength.

Protein doesn’t always have to come from meat though. Today I’m using quinoa as the base source of protein for this shake. Quinoa’s a superfood and a complete protein, which means it has nine essential amino acids necessary for good health. Your body can’t produce these nutrients so you have to get them through your diet.

Natural Protein Shake Recipe:

- 2 tbsp of quinoa
- 1½ cups of soymilk
- ½ cup greek yogurt
- ¼ cup of frozen blueberries
- ¼ cup of frozen bananas
- ¼ cup frozen mangoes
- 1 tsp honey

I’m going to grind 2 tbsp of quinoa in my blender until it becomes a fine powder like this.

Now to make the shake. I’ll start by adding 1 ½ cups of soymilk. You can use any milk that you’d like, but I Soymilk because it adds a little bit of that nutty taste to the shake.

Next i’ll add ½ cup greek yogurt. Greek yogurt is creamier and thicker than regular yogurt because the whey has been strained out. This is also a really great source of protein after your workout to help your muscles recover.

Now my quinoa powder, then a few frozen fruits. I’m using ¼ cup of frozen blueberries that are chock-full of antioxidants, ¼ cup of frozen bananas, and ¼ cup frozen mangoes. These fruits are high-glycemic and convert to usable energy quickly, feeding your muscles the carbs it needs so that it doesn’t cramp up. And to lightly sweeten it, I’m going drizzle a little bit of honey, then give it a whirl.

Now, I’ll pour it into my glass and enjoy!

This shake tastes so much better than any of those powdered stuff that you find at the store. Best of all I can mix and match any flavors I want. What flavor combination would you try?
